HONK! is a delightful and award-winning musical adaptation of the 1843 Hans Christian Andersen story The Ugly Duckling, one of the world’s most beloved fables celebrating what makes each of us special. Ugly looks quite a bit different from his duckling brothers and sisters. The other animals on the farm are quick to notice and point this out, despite his mother’s protective flapping. Feeling rather foul about himself, Ugly finds himself on an adventure of self-discovery, all the while unknowingly outwitting a very hungry cat. Along the way, he meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out that being different is not a bad thing. Brought to you by Messiah’s Glory Players Theater Company, this touching musical comedy will captivate audiences of all ages!
HONK! is the winner of multiple awards, including the 2000 Olivier Award for Best New Musical. Music by George Stiles; book and lyrics by Anthony Drewe.
This performance has a run time of about 2 hours, plus a 15-minute intermission. The show is best enjoyed by ages 6 and up, but all ages are welcome. All theatergoers, regardless of age, must have a ticket and must wear a face mask that securely covers the nose and mouth. All ticket holders ages 5 and older must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. All audience members must wear a mask that securely covers the nose and mouth throughout the entire performance. Bandanas, neck gaiters, and vented masks are not considered acceptable facial coverings. (Please note: The cast will be performing without masks. Cast and crew members are fully vaccinated.)
All ticket holders age 5 and older must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, and guests 16 and older must present a photo ID. (Full vaccination means 14 days have passed since receiving a second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or a single dose of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine.)
A negative COVID-19 test result will not be accepted.
All ticket holders must have:
- Proof of a COVID-19 vaccination with a physical vaccination card or a photograph of the card, or a digital vaccination record stored on a phone or electronic device. Proof must include the name of the person vaccinated, type of vaccine and date of the last dose administered. Self-reported vaccination records not verified by a third party health care provider are not acceptable.
- Valid photo ID. Ticket holders under age 18 may provide a school photo ID. Guests under 16 without a photo ID must be accompanied by an adult presenting a valid vaccination/ID combination.
- Mask that securely covers the nose and mouth.
Tickets will be sold to full auditorium capacity without social distancing.
No outside food or drink is to be consumed in the building.
Ticket holders who do not comply with these policies will not be admitted and no refund will be issued.
